The Hero's Die (THD) is a new Tabletop Role Playing Game (TTRPG) system that focuses on a strong narrative with relatively simple game mechanics. This unique take on TTRPGs will provide a distinct, story-centric adventure, crafted by you, the players.
The Hero's Die is currently undergoing a significant overhaul/update. It's a slow process as the creator of this TTRPG must battle with the demands of real-life while attempting to provide a better game for you to play. Stay tuned... I will emerge victorious!
Two key principles guide the creation and development of every adventure.
Through these two principles, you will find a level of personalization that surpasses many mechanic-heavy RPG experiences.
Player characters are the heroes of the game; thus all player characters are referred to as Heroes.
During game play, you will discover the traits that define your Hero. As your Hero progresses through the adventure, unique Skills and Attributes will be developed through the defining traits.
Traits, Skills, and Attributes are not pre-defined. These are determined by the player and guided by the game's key principles.
Hero levels are not focal points for progression. Instead, they act as a reference point for various encounters throughout the game.
Memorizing stat blocks, key words, and stereotypes are discouraged in The Hero's Die. Villains are meant to be as unique and diverse as the Hero's in your game.
Much like the Heroes, Villains are generated using the game's guiding principles. The system allows you to focus on a well-developed BBEG that matches your Heroes. Yet, it also allows you to quickly generate a mob that will add flavor to the adventure, without taking the spotlight away from your Heroes.
For any player who wants to play the game, but does not have the time to create (or read about) a campaign: HD Lite is your answer.
HD Lite takes the core of THD and provides a medium for rapid, impromptu one-shot (or more) adventures. All players are encouraged to participate in the narrative, and every game will take on the notable personality of each player--making every game different from the one before.
