The Hero's Die (THD) is a new Role Playing Game system that combines some old, familiar game mechanics witha few fresh, new ones. This unique take on the genre will provide a new distinct, story-centric adventure, crafted by you, the players.
Two key principles guide the creation and development of every adventure.
Through these two principles, you will find a level of personalization that far surpasses your common RPG experience.
Player characters are the heroes of the game; thus all player characters are referred to as Heroes.
Hero progression focuses on developing and strengthening a Hero's unique Skills and Attributes.
Skills and Attributes are not pre-defined, but determined by the player and guided by the game's key principles.
Hero levels are not focal points for progression. Instead, they act as a reference point for other aspects of the game. A Hero's level only increases after the Hero improves self.
Memorizing stat blocks, key words, and stereotypes are not required in THD--in fact it is discouraged. Villains are meant to be as unique and diverse as the Hero's in your game.
Villains are generated using the game's two guiding principles. The core of a villain is designed to be easily dispatched, but allows room to fill in details as needed.
For any player who wants to play the game, but does not have the time to create (or read about) a campaign: HD Lite is your answer.
HD Lite takes the core of THD and provides a medium for rapid, impromptu adventure development. All players are encouraged to participate in the narrative, and every game will take on the notable personality of each player--making every game different from the one before.
